RE: Atwood water heater problem

That's easy. Your furnace had lost the magic dust that allowed it to fire. By removing the orifice and blowing through it you rejuvenated the magic dust. Yes that is a joke. But whatever it was, glad you got it working again. I thought he had a WATER HEATER:S Doug PS, he removed the orifice and cleaned it out. microscopic particles behind the orifice hole can jump around and cause the exact type problems he had.

RE: Microwave failure after just 2 years...why?

Appliance fail. Does not make any difference if Home or RV. Of course, RV's are NOT supposed to be run on power less than 50 or 30 amp. 20 amp you have run on. BUT, your EMS system does NOT protect from low voltage. So, Rvr's continually operate on suspect line voltages and even some CG voltages are suspect (30 and 50). LOW and HIGH voltage will cause appliances to fail. I will relate a story since you have a Newmar. We used to sell Newmar 1993 to 2008.(2003) A customer under warranty went to Northern Illinois and parked at a 50 amp CG. Came back after a day of sightseeing and there was a note on his door. Went next door and his neighbor explained that a bolt of lightning hit the Power electrical pole behind his Camp site. Went inside his RV and found almost all his 120 electrical appliances were burnt out. IF his neighbor had not told him what happened he would have blamed Newmar and the appliance makers. Doug PS, so things happen when camping on various 120 power supplies.

RE: atwood 8525-iv-dclp furnace Issue

That is not called a flame CB. It is a Circuit Breaker for the electrical system of the furnace. How soon does it trip? 3 things usually trip the CB. BAD furnace motor or motor cannot turn due to insect nests on the impellors stopping the fan from turning and last a shorted wire inside the furnace usually at the furnace heat casing that a wire has melted. RE: Ok to run shore power without battery?

Also the NAPA guy said that a deep cycle RV battery is not really appropriate for my set up (basically kept at full charge by the smart converter) since it never discharges. Opinions on that? Auto Parts guys are total experts on RV charging systems. NOT! Doug

RE: Atwood water heater problem

1. remove the gas orifice and blow out. 2. Remove the metal exhaust cover and roll a golf ball down from the top. This will tell you if the flame exhaust tube has any restrictions(insect nests) which can cause your problem. You CANNOT see this and you use the golf ball to determine if obstruction. 3. Make sure that you remove the burner flue and run a nylon brush thru it to remove any possible spider nest residue. The smallest residue can cause your problem. 4. Last, proper air mixture is critical for your type problem. Adjust as needed to get a loud blue roaring flame. Doug

RE: What is this and where can I get one ?

What keeps it in place since it fell out? glue, bracket? Screws. Doug

RE: Lifestyle RV Frame and Slide out diagrams

You just joined. ALWAYS post Year Brand and Model of RV. You will NOT find what you are looking for as to frames. The slideout systems are built by other suppliers and those are probably still in existance. Those suppliers usually have on line part and diagnosis manuals. So, you need to determine what brands Slideouts you have. Some RV makers used 2 different suppliers for models with multiple rooms. Doug

RE: What is this and where can I get one ?

2004 Mandalay should have HWH slide systems. This link shows the pic of the Nylon glide. I don't know if HWH still supplies the shorter Nylon glide or you have to purchase the 8 foot piece and cut and drill the counter sunk holes for your particular fit. RE: E2 Warning

My trailer is a Keustone Cougar with the in command control system. The warning does seem to be temperature related and a lockout designed into the system. I don't know why. I think it's a glitch in the software. I checked today temp was 50 degrees no warning. Thats why I stated that the error is a KNOWN issue. Contac Keystone or ASA to find out if they have a software update. Did you not see what I posted from ASA's website about your problem? Doug

RE: E2 Warning

With my thermostat (CCC2) E2 can be cleared by following the reset procedure. If not, what happened to us last winter was that the telephone connectors they use in several places to control the ACs and furnace were corroded. Clean or replace the connectors. OP does not have the Dometic ccc tstat system

RE: E2 Warning

This is from ASA Electronics, the maker of the system. Doug The AC will not run when the ambient temperature is above 100°F or below 40°F. Why? Please contact your local RV service center.

RE: I can’t be the only one with a poorly designed black tank.

Air gap If you fighting an odor problem, locate air gaps and replace them. Air gaps are Gray tank problems. That is why he needs to do the procedures I outlined earlier. Doug

RE: RV built with hole in the Floor (Thor/Four Winds/Mandalay)

I don't think so as there are no wires that come through the hole and I never had any work done there on the rv in that area. NOT a hole for wires, But a HOLE to reach down and remove or replace the fuel sending unit without having to drop the fuel tank. Doug

RE: A/c unit

I have one old unit and one new unit. To make them play together, you can buy a control board for the new unit so it will work with the old 5 button thermostat. The cost of my new board was $187, plug and play. It's easy for someone to say, just replace both units at a cost of about $2K each. The OP has never responded to questions asked here. Doug

RE: I can’t be the only one with a poorly designed black tank.

Regardless of any accumulated deposits or a Poop Pyramid, you should NEVER get an odor stopped or in transit. 1. Use Pine sol. Fill and flush the tank 3 or more times. Then leave empty, no chemicals. Put about a pint of pine sol in the tank thru the toilet. Kame sure the toilet bowl DOES hold that little water(1 cup or so). Drive the RV. See if you get Pine sol smell. IF NOT, then your Gray tank is the cause of your odor. IF it does smell of Pine sol, then you need to pull the toilet and check its mount on the down pipe to the black tank. Verify the toilet flange seal is GOOD(I doubt it after all these years). Regardless, you now replace the flange seal. Get this flushing tool and use it to help clean out that ridge in your tank. https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Straight-Valve-Creates-Dislodges-21013/dp/B07ZPJTKMH/ref=asc_df_B07ZPJTKMH/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416770464416&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5357048556868854133&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9027230&hvtargid=pla-873896766648&ref=&adgrpid=92859401686&th=1

RE: Onan Generator Oil Filter Crossthreaded

1. I would attempt another filter. It IS possible that the new filter is wrong or has damaged threads. IF the old filter was cross threaded, then it would have leaked. ALSO, if old was cross threaded and FORCED to mate to the old housing block, it would have taken a large force with pliers to unscrew it. THAT should have alerted the existing so called tech that something was wrong and they then notify you. 2. I have almost 45 years of servicing Onans and have NEVER come across such a problem. NEVER! 3. As to your ESC, ESC's ONLY cover covered parts that BREAK, not parts that have been damaged by a service technician or customer. Doug
